About Leeann Irwin, Your Shiatsu Therapist

A Shiatsu practitioner since 1988, I spent more than two years in Japan and China studying under masters of this ancient healing art. I have studied the ancient massage components of: Tuina, Anmo, and Amma, Chinese and Japanese, inclusively, and medical Qi-Gong.

Leeann has helped me keep active and out of pain. She applies just the right amount of pressure and gives just the right amount of health advice, encouraging but in a very in non-judgmental way.

-Deb, Herbalist and Editor

My practice also incorporates Therapeutic Touch by one of the founders of the approach, Dr. Dolores Kreiger.

  • I am licensed by the State Board of Chiropractic and Massage Therapy Examiners.
  • I was certified with the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Body Work, and the American Organization for Body Work Therapies of Asia.
  • I am a qualified Therapeutic Touch practitioner with Therapeutic Touch International Association.
  • I also hold a B.S. in psychology.

I completed a nine-month program of Clinical Pastoral Education at Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C. My intense and transforming experiences included weekly shifts as the sole interfaith chaplain at the 800-bed facility, which operates the largest trauma unit in Washington, D.C.   From sitting with a mother as she watched her adult son dying from alcohol abuse-incurred disease to bedside visits with patients preparing for major surgery, to holding a family member’s hand at the bed of a diseased loved one, I gained courage and experience that I bring to my practice. I also have been a direct patient Hospice volunteer. Those empathetic skills contribute to my professional practice as well.
